Jason Campbell, QB, Washington RedskinsSaturday 2/9, 6:02 PM CT
Ending a wild month of speculation, the Washington Redskins have reportedly settled on Jim Zorn to be their new HC replacing Joe Gibbs. Zorn will likely be introduced by the team on Sunday as their head coach just a couple of weeks after the team initially hired him on January 26th to be the Offensive Coordinator. Zorn will become the sixth coach since Dan Snyder purchased the team in 1999. AP
Matt Hasselbeck, QB, Seattle SeahawksSaturday 2/9, 5:56 PM CT
The Seattle Seahawks have decided on their replacement of QB Coach Jim Zorn who left to move on to the Redskins. Ironically, Seattle's new QB Coach will be former Redskins QB Coach Bill Lazor. Lazor worked closely with Jason Campbell last season and is credited with helping Campbell to become a solid NFL QB. Seattle Times
Damione Lewis, DT, Carolina PanthersSaturday 2/9, 5:01 PM CT
Damione Lewis signed a 3-year contract with the Panthers to continue his fine work as a D-line reserve. His 3.5 sacks last season actually led the disappointing Panthers unit. Lewis offers no real fantasy value but it was important for the Panthers to keep him around with all the off-season moves that could face them prior to the start of the 2008 season. ESPN
Chad Johnson, WR, Cincinnati BengalsSaturday 2/9, 4:57 PM CT
Chad Johnson caused a stir at the Pro Bowl by blowing off interviews and actually coming into physical contact with one NFL employee. A possible fine appears to be in the cards. " I get out of line at times, but what great one doesn't? What great one doesn't get emotional? Find me a great one who hasn't done it like that and I'll be quiet." It's always nice to hear people be humble isn't it? The guy is a hell of a talent, but is his production on the field really worth the distraction off it? ESPN
Jeremy Shockey, TE, New Orleans SaintsSaturday 2/9, 4:48 PM CT
Jeremy Shockey might just be on the trading block after the play of rookie TE Kevin Boss impressed the Giants brass. Shockey's salary will only count $3.5 million dollars against the cap next season, and if the team can get a second round pick in exchange for Shockey they might consider moving the oft injured TE. Shockey has hauled in at least 57 passes in each of the past four season's despite bumps and bruises though he has been held to under 650-yards in each of the past two seasons. Sports Illustrated.
Brett Favre, QB, New York JetsSaturday 2/9, 4:37 PM CT
Brett Favre hasn't officially made up his mind about whether or not he will return to action next season, and he may not make his mind up for a couple of more weeks according to HC Mike McCarthy. McCarthy talks with Favre on a weekly basis though he doesn't anticipate hearing a yes or no for a while yet. Favre, coming off his best season in years, 4155 yards and 28 TD, has played for 17 NFL seasons. NFL.com
Isaac Sopoaga, DT, San Francisco 49ersSaturday 2/9, 2:44 PM CT
The Niners don't plan to franchise any of their free agents, which includes Isaac Sopoaga, Larry Allen, Justin Smiley, Kwame Harris and Marques Douglas, according to the Sacramento Bee. It's been reported that Allen will retire, but with a thin market for defensive linemen, Sopoaga should draw quite a bit of interest.
Tom Brady, QB, New England PatriotsSaturday 2/9, 2:37 PM CT
Tom Brady's slated to receive a base salary of $5 million with a $3 million roster bonus next season, according to ProFootballTalk.com. However, the contract will lay a hefty $14.62 million salary-cap hit on the Pats. Brady really wants to keep soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Randy Moss with the team and may have to do some restructuring of his own contract -- or work out a new one -- in order to make that happen.
Troy Williamson, WR, Jacksonville JaguarsSaturday 2/9, 10:15 AM CT
Troy Williamson is under contract for next season, but the Vikings may cut their ties this offseason, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. The seventh overall pick in the 2005 draft has not developed at the pro level and could be expendable.
Willie Parker, RB, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 2/9, 10:11 AM CT
The Steelers plan to stick with a grass field next season, rather than switch to an artificial surface, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Willie Parker's speed might best be used on a more stable surface, but it sounds like owner Dan Rooney believes grass is what the players are in favor of and that it causes fewer injuries. On the other hand, NFLPA surveys consistently rank the field among the worst in the league. And you can remember the mess it became in the rain this past season.
Calvin Pace, LB, New York JetsSaturday 2/9, 9:56 AM CT
The Arizona Republic reports that Calvin Pace is expected to test the free-agent market. The Cardinals still want to bring him back, but he'll be an unrestricted free agent on Feb. 29, so the ball is in his court.
Lance Briggs, LB, Chicago BearsSaturday 2/9, 9:52 AM CT
The Chicago Sun-Times speculates that the Bears might want to make a bigger attempt to re-sign Lance Briggs in the wake of Brian Urlacher's recent neck surgery. All signs pointed to Briggs bolting as a free agent, and Urlacher's surgery reportedly was only minor and won't affect his ability to play. On the other hand, the Bears may want to have insurance in Briggs.
Bernard Berrian, WR, Minnesota VikingsSaturday 2/9, 9:45 AM CT
Bernard Berrian's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Friday that he has "not heard anything either way" about whether the Bears will use their franchise tag on his client, according to the Chicago Tribune. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reported that the club is unlikley to use the tag on Berrian. The wide receiver has said he wants to stay with the Bears, but he figures to be one of the top receivers on the free-agent market next month, so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
LenDale White, RB, Tennessee TitansSaturday 2/9, 9:39 AM CT
LenDale White recently underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the knee injury that bothered him last season, according to the Tennessean. White's expected to be fully recovered in time for minicamps in May, so it appears that it was just a minor procedure.
Benji Olson, G, Tennessee TitansSaturday 2/9, 9:36 AM CT
Benji Olson admitted at season's end that he was contemplating retirement, and he's still mulling it over, according to the Tennessean. "I haven't had any conversations with him about that yet,'' agent Mike Sullivan said. "I tend to think a decision should not be made this soon after the season. I think if the team says 'We need to make a major move in free agency (at guard),' then I would say (he needs to decide) by the end of February. If the team says 'We're definitely not going to go into free agency but we want to know by the draft (in April),' then I think you make the decision by the draft. ... But I think (players) need to give themselves some time to make sure you are not making a (hasty) decision either way." The 10-year veteran missed four games last season, including the Titans' postseason contest, due to a sore back.
Osi Umenyiora, DE, New York GiantsSaturday 2/9, 9:25 AM CT
Osi Umenyiora still is dealing with a nasty case of the flu, but he's expected to take part in the Pro Bowl on Sunday, according to the New York Daily News. Umenyiora, who's the only representative of the Super Bowl champion Giants, was able to get through practice yesterday.
