Tony Richardson, RB, New York JetsWednesday 3/5, 7:44 PM CT
Reports indicate stud FB Tony Richardson is in contract negotiations with the New York Jets, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Richardson has been a leader of great blocking for many years and the Jets could certainly use such a presence to match their revamped offensive line. Stay tuned.
Terrell Suggs, DE, Baltimore RavensWednesday 3/5, 7:33 PM CT
Terrell Suggs has filed a grievance against the Baltimore Ravens, according to the Baltimore Sun. Suggs has taken issue with being designated as a linebacker when the Ravens placed the franchise tage on him and would prefer to be listed as a defensive end, a change that would bring Suggs an additional $814,000. Suggs claims more than half of his snaps in 2007 were played at defensive end, though the Ravens stand pat stating Suggs should be franchised as a linebacker because he starts as an outside LB in the team's 3-4 defense and also appears on the NFL's Pro Bowl ballot as a linebacker. Suggs and the Ravens will meet with arbitration to settle the dispute.
Kurt Warner, QB, Arizona CardinalsWednesday 3/5, 5:11 PM CT
The Arizona Republic is reporting that the Cardinals and the agent for Kurt Warner are in preliminary discussions about extending the former MVP's contract, which is due to expire after the 2008 season. "We've talked about some things," said agent Mark Bartelstein. "It's something we might address over the next month or so." The report mentions that a new deal could be cap friendly, allowing the Cardinals to do more with their unsigned players.
Brett Favre, QB, Green Bay PackersWednesday 3/5, 4:28 PM CT
In the wake of the retirement of Brett Favre, the good news is that the Packers will save at least $11.4 million against the salary cap, this according to Pro Football Talk. If Favre's retirement is official by June 1st, the team will be $29.8 million under the cap leaving them with a lot of cash to spend.
Trey Lewis, DT, Atlanta FalconsWednesday 3/5, 4:15 PM CT
Trey Lewis suffered a setback with his comeback as he will now require yet another surgery after he injured the same knee that was previously operated on while heading down the stairs, this according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "It's tough for us, but it is also disappointing for Trey because he was making tremendous progress in his rehabilitation," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. This latest injury may force the Falcons hand on draft day and push them more in the direction of a defensive player versus the QB most people think they need.
Brendon Ayanbadejo, LB, Baltimore RavensWednesday 3/5, 4:10 PM CT
Brendon Ayanbadejo, the Bears special teams standout, visited with the Jets on Monday after he visited the Ravens on Tuesday, this according to the NY Daily News. Not really worthy of any special fantasy news, but still newsworthy nonetheless.
Kalvin Pearson, S, Detroit LionsWednesday 3/5, 3:46 PM CT
The Detroit Lions have offered Tampa Bay cornerback Kalvin Pearson a three-year contract worth $3.5 million, with $1.1 million in guaranteed money, according to the Tampa Tribune. Pearson, who earned $516,360 last season, led Tampa Bay with 21 special teams tackles. The Bucs now have seven days to match Detroit’s offer or Pearson will sign with the Lions. In addition, Tampa Bay will not receive any draft compensation if Pearson signs because he entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2002.
Tank Williams, S, New England PatriotsWednesday 3/5, 3:32 PM CT
The New England Patriots signed Minnesota free agent safety to an undisclosed contract, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Williams, 27, appeared in 13 games with two starts last season for the Vikings after missing all of 2006 because of a training-camp knee injury.
Barry Sims, G, San Francisco 49ersWednesday 3/5, 3:23 PM CT
The Carolina Panthers are close to signing Oakland left tackle Barry Sims, according to the Herald. "The meeting went well, from a football standpoint and a personal standpoint," agent Ken Vierra said Tuesday. "We're going to talk some more and see what happens." Vierra said he thought Sims and the Panthers were "a good fit" on many levels, saying "we'll see if we can get something done." Carolina is revamping their offensive line, while getting ready to implement more of a power running game in 2008. Sims, 33, has logged 108 of his career 119 starts at left tackle for the Raiders.
Corey Hulsey, G, Detroit LionsWednesday 3/5, 3:12 PM CT
The Lions have signed Corey Hulsey, the team's official web site reports. Hulsey hasn't been seen since 2006, which was his fourth year with the Raiders. We can't imagine they are expecting much out of him.
Phillip Buchanon, CB, Tampa Bay BuccaneersWednesday 3/5, 3:07 PM CT
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have substantial cash flow in the coffers and plan to spend some of it on an extension for cornerback Phillip Buchanon, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Keeping Buchanon has become more of a priority since Brian Kelly exercised an option to buy back the final year of his contract becoming a free agent. Buchanon was having the best season of his career in 2007, before foot and wrist injuries slowed him down during the last few games of the season.
Kerry Rhodes, S, New York JetsWednesday 3/5, 2:53 PM CT
Kerry Rhodes and the New York Jets remain far apart on a long-term contract extension, according to the Daily News. Rhodes, who is a versatile player who can play both safety positions, was moved to free safety last year to take advantage of his ball hawking skills. Rhodes is in the final year of his rookie deal paying him $927,000 this year, meaning he could become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2008 seasons.
D.J. Hackett, WR, Carolina PanthersWednesday 3/5, 2:44 PM CT
D.J. Hackett, who has received little interest on the open market, still has an interest in rejoining the Seattle Seahawks, according to the News Tribune. There are also reports that Buffalo might be interested in Hackett if talks with Bryant Johnson don’t work out. It appears that Hackett’s vast injury history has put his free agency stock in a deep freeze. Hackett was placed on injured reserve missing the entire 2004 season due to a sports hernia injury. During the past three seasons, he has missed 15 starts due to various leg injuries.
Courtney Anderson, TE, Buffalo BillsWednesday 3/5, 1:26 PM CT

Rex Hadnot is visiting the Steelers on Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. They are seeking a backup guard.
Joey Harrington, QB, Atlanta FalconsWednesday 3/5, 12:16 PM CT
The Falcons have released quarterback Joey Harrington. The free agent pool is generally void of quarterback talent, which is good for Harrington but bad for the Falcons. We have to believe they'll sign someone soon rather than move forward with only Chris Redman and D.J. Shockley.
Shaun Rogers, DT, Cleveland BrownsWednesday 3/5, 10:55 AM CT
The Browns and Shaun Rogers agreed on a six-year, $42 million deal on Wednesday, ESPN.com reports. The reworked contract includes $20 million in guarantees. Rogers is expected to anchor the team's 3-4 front.
Travis Fisher, CB, Detroit LionsWednesday 3/5, 10:22 AM CT
The Lions and Travis Fisher have agreed to a three-year, $9 million deal, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Fisher played all 16 games and picked off two passes for the Lions in 2007. He will likely start in 2008.

The Lions re-signed Aveion Cason on Wednesday, MLive.com reports.
Eugene Wilson, S, Tampa Bay BuccaneersWednesday 3/5, 9:13 AM CT
Eugene Wilson visited the Steelers on Tuesday, but he left without a contract. The former Patriot previously met with the Buccaneers, and he may move on to talk with the Jets and Titans, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Albert Haynesworth, DT, Tennessee TitansWednesday 3/5, 9:06 AM CT
Albert Haynesworth offered an assessment of his team's offseason, and it was far from glowing. "We need more weapons for Vince (Young). Now we need more defensive linemen. We are not doing anything. We are really just making ourselves worse the way I look at it," Haynesworth tells the Tennessean. "It doesn't look like we're trying to get better." The Titans have thus far signed Alge Crumpler, re-signed Justin Gage, and lost six players, including defensive ends Travis LaBoy and Antwan Odom. "I don't know what we are doing, I really don't. Saving this money doesn't add over to next year," Haynesworth adds.
Michael Lehan, CB, Miami DolphinsWednesday 3/5, 9:01 AM CT
The Dolphins re-signed Michael Lehan on Tuesday. He signed a three-year deal worth almost $5 million, the Miami Herald reports. Lehan started 14 games in 2007, but the club would like to upgrade the position.
Boomer Grigsby, RB, Miami DolphinsWednesday 3/5, 9:00 AM CT
The Dolphins agreed to terms with fullback Boomer Grigsby on Tuesday, the Miami Herald reports. The former Chief and star of "Hard Knocks" will mainly be used on special teams.
Laveranues Coles, WR, New York JetsWednesday 3/5, 8:49 AM CT
The Jets have spent an amazing $138 million in contract ($63 million is guaranteed) this offseason and used draft picks to trade for Kris Jenkins. The spree is already causing some of the team's veterans to grumble, according to the New York Daily News. "You pay guys you don't even know, and the guys in the locker room - the guys that have your back - you don't give a damn about them," an anonymous player says. Laveranues Coles and Chris Baker are two Jets who have openly asked for new deals. It sounds like Eric Mangini has a trouble a-brewing.
Chad Pennington, QB, New York JetsWednesday 3/5, 8:46 AM CT
The Jets aren't only spending big bucks on free agents. Chad Pennington is also earning a hefty paycheck in 2008. According to the New York Daily News, Pennington's 2008 base salary is up to $6 million from $4.8 million due to a clause in his contract. His cap number for the coming season is $9 million. Ouch.
Marlon McCree, S, Denver BroncosWednesday 3/5, 8:40 AM CT
Marlon McCree will visit the Broncos on Wednesday and will then make a choice between Denver and Buffalo, the Denver Post reports.
Boss Bailey, LB, Denver BroncosWednesday 3/5, 8:38 AM CT
Boss Bailey will visit the Broncos on Wednesday and Thursday. "First of all, we need him, that's the biggest thing above him being my brother," Champ Bailey informs the Denver Post. The cornerback may be biased.
Will Demps, S, Houston TexansWednesday 3/5, 8:27 AM CT
The Texans and Will Demps have agreed to a two-year deal, the Houston Chronicle reports. Demps joined the Texans in 2007 and started the final eight games. His career had previously stumbled a bit due to a knee injury.
Kwame Harris, T, Oakland RaidersWednesday 3/5, 8:18 AM CT
Kwame Harris has moved across the Bay. The former 49ers first-round pick agreed to a three-year, $16 million deal with the Raiders on Tuesday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. We can only assume the Raiders did not hear the loud boos that Harris routinely received while playing for the 49ers. He should compete for a starting tackle spot.
Tyler Brayton, DE, Carolina PanthersWednesday 3/5, 8:13 AM CT
The Panthers and Tyler Brayton agreed to terms on a two-year deal on Tuesday, the Charlotte Observer reports. The 2003 first-round pick will rotate in at right end and could move inside on passing downs. He has six sacks over his five-year career.

Teddy Lehman, LB, Tampa Bay BuccaneersWednesday 3/5, 8:03 AM CT
The Buccaneers signed linebackers Teddy Lehman and Matt McCoy on Tuesday, the Tampa Tribune reports. They join Leon Joe, who agreed to terms on Monday. All three linebackers will be backups.
