Get ready for your draft with the Rototimes.com Football Draft Kit
Robert Ferguson, WR, Minnesota VikingsSaturday 3/15, 6:21 PM CT
Robert Ferguson has re-signed with the Vikings, according to The Star Tribune. It is a one-year contract worth $1 million. Ferguson hauled in 32 receptions for 391 yards and one score in 2007.
DeAngelo Hall, CB, Oakland RaidersSaturday 3/15, 5:59 PM CT
DeAngelo Hall is reportedly being dealt to the Raiders, according to ESPN.com. The Falcons would get the Raiders second round pick in the draft if the reported deal goes through. Hall himself is refuting the story from ESPN and the Falcons have yet to respond, so nothing is actually set as of now.
Darrell Jackson, WR, Denver BroncosSaturday 3/15, 1:04 PM CT
NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that the Niners are expected to release Darrell Jackson from their roster, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The move wouldn't be surprising, since they recently added Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson this offseason. Some team probably will give the oft-injured wide out a chance.
D.J. Hackett, WR, Carolina PanthersSaturday 3/15, 12:55 PM CT
The Redskins plan to wait and see if D.J. Hackett takes their contract offer before considering other wide receiver options, according to the Washington Post. Hackett was slated to meet with the Bucs and Panthers by Saturday, so a decision could come soon. The Redskins also remain in contact with Reche Caldwell, who also received an offer, but the receiver is still deciding whether he'll sign it.
Deuce McAllister, RB, New Orleans SaintsSaturday 3/15, 12:49 PM CT
The Saints and Deuce McAllister have agreed to push back the date his $1 million roster bonus is due from March 15 to April 15, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The Saints want a little more time to gauge how he's recovering from surgery on both knees. He had a torn ACL repaired in his left knee, but it turns out the procedure on his right knee was microfracture surgery. It's going to be interesting to see how quickly he can recover from the microfrature procedure and whether he'll need to rework his contract to stay in New Orleans.
Brady Poppinga, LB, Green Bay PackersSaturday 3/15, 12:39 PM CT
The Packers are interested in signing Brady Poppinga to a long-term contract, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. If they don't lock up their starting strong-side linebacker, he'll become an unrestricted free agent following next season.
Kevin Jones, RB, Detroit LionsSaturday 3/15, 12:35 PM CT
Kevin Jones said that within two hours of being released by the Lions, 12 teams showed interest in his services, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. "I'll be ready by July, I'm ahead of schedule right now and I still think...no, I know I can still play in the NFL," Jones said. The running back is recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee, and it's not surprising that many teams will be interested in taking a chance on him. The Eagles were among the teams who contacted him, but it's far too early to tell where he'll end up for next season.
Kenoy Kennedy, S, Detroit LionsSaturday 3/15, 12:28 PM CT
The Lions have released Kenoy Kennedy from their roster, according to the Detroit Free Press. He failed to live up to the hype he brought with him when he left Denver to join the Lions in 2005 and often missed tackles last season. The Lions are overhauling their secondary, so expect more moves to come.
Rashied Davis, WR, Chicago BearsSaturday 3/15, 12:21 PM CT
The Dolphins have shown interest in signing restricted free agent Rashied Davis to a contract, according to the Chicago Tribune. The Chiefs, Seahawks and Bill are among the teams who also appear to be interested in his services, though the Bears still hope to re-sign the receiver. The Bears have the right to match any offer sheet he signs.
Justin Hartwig, G, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 3/15, 12:16 PM CT
Justin Hartwig met with Steelers officials on Friday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Released by the Panthers earlier this week, Hartwig also has received interest from the Rams. The Steelers also brought in Donnie Nickey, who has been a backup with the Titans, for a talk Friday.
Samkon Gado, RB, Miami DolphinsSaturday 3/15, 10:55 AM CT
The Dolphins have shown no interest in retaining Samkon Gado for next season, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Apparently, they don't find the 2.8 average for yards per carry he posted last year that enticing.
Patrick Cobbs, RB, Miami DolphinsSaturday 3/15, 10:53 AM CT
The Dolphins have made an exclusive-rights tender to Patrick Cobbs this offseason, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. If he stays with the team as things stand now, Cobbs would back up Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.
Ricky Williams, RB, Miami DolphinsSaturday 3/15, 10:49 AM CT
Ricky Williams continues to recover well from a torn pectoral muscle, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "Ricky has just been cleared for all activities, other than heavy lifting," said Williams' agent Leigh Steinberg. "His exchanges with [Dolphins vice president of football operations] Bill Parcells have all been positive. Knowing Bill's track record, Ricky is encouraged and excited about the coming season. You could say he's chomping at the bit." Williams made a one-game cameo last season before suffering the injury. Everything is up in the air with Bill Parcells taking over the Dolphins, but at this point, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams appear to be their top two backs for 2008.
Ronnie Brown, RB, Miami DolphinsSaturday 3/15, 10:44 AM CT
Ronnie Brown is recovering well from a torn ACL, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "He's started running a while ago, is lifting weights, is in great spirits and on track," Brown's agent Todd E. France said Friday. "We don't see any obstacles in our way. … He's got the drive to be ready." Brown's season was cut short in October due to the injury, but hopefully he will be able to get up near full speed by training camp.
Jason Elam, K, Atlanta FalconsSaturday 3/15, 10:38 AM CT
Jason Elam is expected to visit with the Falcons next week, according to the Denver Post. "I am going to be taking a trip to Atlanta," Elam said. The Broncos want to keep Elam in the fold but currently aren't willing to pay him the $1 million difference in guaranteed money for 2008 that currently separates the two sides.
Chaun Thompson, LB, Houston TexansSaturday 3/15, 10:33 AM CT
The Texans have signed Chaun Thompson to a two-year contract, according to the Houston Chronicle. "The opportunity the Texans are giving me was too good to pass up," Thompson said. "They're giving me a chance to compete, play ball and have fun." He'll make $2.4 million, including $650,000 up front, in the new deal and will battle Zac Diles and Kevin Bentley for a starting job at strong-side linebacker.
Steve McNair, QB, Baltimore RavensSaturday 3/15, 10:28 AM CT
There had been speculation this offseason that the Ravens might ask Steve McNair, Trevor Price and some other veterans to restructure their contracts, but that hasn't happened, according to the Baltimore Sun. "I have not touched their contracts. Nothing," GM Ozzie Newsome said. Both McNair and Price missed extensive action last season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the Ravens eventually try to rework their deals.
Chris McAlister, CB, Baltimore RavensSaturday 3/15, 10:24 AM CT
Chris McAlister is recovering well from offseason knee surgery, according to the Baltimore Sun. "I think he weighs about 212 pounds," Ravens defensive coordinator RexRyan said. "He looks good. I mean, really good." McAlister missed five of the final six games of 2007 due to a knee ailment and added weight while being sidelined, but it appears he's ready for a good offseason of training.
