Jonathan Vilma, LB, New Orleans SaintsMonday 3/17, 6:25 PM CT
Jonathan Vilma is making fine progress on his knee, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune. Vilma stated on Monday, "I plan to spend as much time as I can here in New Orleans. Of course, I've been rehabbing down in Miami and I have a trainer down there, so both trainers will be talking with each other and deciding what's best for me. I don't want to give a percentage, but I'll say I'm right where I need to be. It's been progressing very well and I haven't had any setbacks, knock on wood." Vilma was once an elite fantasy LB with the Jets, and this is positive news as he aims at a fresh start in New Orleans.
Mark Brunell, QB, New Orleans SaintsMonday 3/17, 6:21 PM CT
Mark Brunell is the likely number two QB for the Saints, as of now. This according to the New Orleans Times Picayune. Coach Payton commented on him and former top backup Jamie Martin, "Mark's a veteran player. It's no secret we were actively pursuing a few veteran quarterbacks. We were fortunate to sign Mark last week. That being said, I had a chance to visit with Jamie last week and it probably negates his opportunity here. The two years we spent with Jamie and him being a part of this team has been outstanding for all of us."
Robert Meachem, WR, New Orleans SaintsMonday 3/17, 6:17 PM CT
Robert Meachem has been medically cleared to participate in the Saints' off-season training program, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune. Payton stated, "Medically, he's been cleared. I've been encouraged with the feedback I've gotten with the way he's running. I think any lingering effects from his knee from a year ago have all but disappeared. That's encouraging. I think the biggest thing for Robert a year ago was just being held back, not being 100 percent. He's cleared and full speed ahead." Meachem's rookie season was a wash, so hopefully he will make a bigger impact in year two.
Reggie Bush, RB, New Orleans SaintsMonday 3/17, 6:11 PM CT
Reggie Bush is expected to take part in off-season workouts, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune. Coach Payton stated that Bush will be a regular this off-season and added, "He's planning on being involved in all of our offseason which is encouraging and good. It's important for him, especially with running backs and the pounding they take to be real diligent in the weight room."

Julius Peppers, DE, Carolina PanthersMonday 3/17, 12:23 PM CT
Julius Peppers was courtside when the Nuggets faced the Sonics on Sunday, according to the Rocky Mountain News. He could simply have been checking out some hoops, but since trade rumors have persisted in recent weeks, there's at least a chance he could have been in Denver to visit the Broncos. He'd have to have the Panthers' permission to do so, and their GM recently shot down such trade rumors. The Broncos finished 19th in the league in sacks last year, so they could be interested in Peppers. Of course, if anyone could use some defensive help, it was the Sonics, who got smoked for a whopping 168 points by the Nugs.
