Todd Bertuzzi, LW, Calgary FlamesMonday 11/5, 10:34 AM CT
Todd Bertuzzi has made it through three straight days without concussion symptoms. "You've got to be symptom-free for a number of days before [the NHL] even allows you to begin activity," GM Brian Burke said, according to the LA Times. "But [Bertuzzi] came to camp with such a good aerobic base and he was in such great shape that we're not concerned he'll take a long time coming back once he's cleared to go." It's good news that he's finally showing improvement, but he'll have to get through some workouts and practices before returning to game aciton.
Pavol Demitra, LW, Vancouver CanucksMonday 11/5, 10:28 AM CT
Pavol Demitra might be able to play on Monday. He's nursing a sore groin, and while the Wild haven't announced a timetable for his return, tonight's game has not been ruled out, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Demitra is working at a point-per-game pace this season, so hopefully he'll make a quick return.
Andrew Ladd, LW, Chicago BlackhawksMonday 11/5, 10:15 AM CT
Andrew Ladd continues to work his way back from a sprained ankle. It sounds like he's making progress, as he's expected to resume skating this week, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. If all goes well once he hits the ice, Ladd could return shortly thereafter.
Scott Walker, RW, Carolina HurricanesMonday 11/5, 10:11 AM CT
It's been two weeks since Scott Walker tore cartilage in his rib cage, and he's still in excrutiating pain. "I wear a brace around my chest that holds it, and that feels the best," Walker said, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. "Other than that, I'm just getting to the point where I can get in and out of bed without too much discomfort. It's frustrating because every day you wake up and hope it's going to be better. It's just one of those things where they told me it's going to take some time." He's out indefinitely, and it sounds like it will be weeks before he's ready to take part in a game again.
Ethan Moreau, LW, Edmonton OilersMonday 11/5, 10:07 AM CT
Ethan Moreau has had his ailing foot in a walking cast for weeks. On Monday, he'll be fitted for cast, because the injury isn't healing, according to the Edmonton Journal. "We're not getting much improvement," said Oilers trainer Ken Lowe. It was believed that he just had a bruise, but a recent MRI revealed a small crack in his foot. Moreau will wear the cast for a couple of weeks, so realistically we may not see him on the ice for another month.
Ales Hemsky, RW, Edmonton OilersMonday 11/5, 9:59 AM CT
Ales Hemsky missed practice on Sunday due to an undisclosed injury, according to the Edmonton Journal. "We're hoping he can play [Monday]," said Oilers coach Craig MacTavish. Hemsky has a minus-1 rating this season, but he's tallied four goals and 10 points in 14 games.
Martin Havlat, RW, Chicago BlackhawksMonday 11/5, 9:51 AM CT
Martin Havlat has been skating, as he works his way back from a shoulder nijury. Now he's expected to take part in a full-contact practice, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. How the joint responds will determine how quickly he can get back into game action, though it sounds like it should be soon.
Andrew Ference, D, Boston BruinsMonday 11/5, 12:06 AM CT
Andrew Ference was scratched from Sunday's game against the Senators with what the team called an "upper core injury," according to the AP. It's unclear if the injury will force him to miss any more time.
