Mike Ribeiro, C, Dallas StarsMonday 1/7, 9:34 PM CT
The Dallas Stars extended the contract of center Mike Ribeiro on Monday, signing him to a five-year $25 million deal. Ribeiro has already set a career high in goals this season with 21, and led the Stars in points last year. He is signed through the 2012-2013 season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled defenseman Ryan Lannon and center Ryan Stone from the Wilkes-Barre/Scanton squad of the AHL on Monday.
Raffi Torres, LW, Columbus Blue JacketsMonday 1/7, 3:00 PM CT
Raffi Torres will miss the rest of the season with a torn knee ligament, the AP reported on Monday. He will undergo surgery to repair his right ACL in the near future.
Johan Hedberg, G, Atlanta ThrashersMonday 1/7, 10:22 AM CT
Johan Hedberg stopped 37 shots while en route to a 5-2 win over the Sabres on Sunday. He has an 11-8 record this season.
Carlo Colaiacovo, D, St. Louis BluesMonday 1/7, 9:54 AM CT
Carlo Colaiacovo was knocked out of Saturday's game after a knee-to-knee collision. The injury is expected to keep him sidelined at least 7-10 days, according to the Toronto Star. It's the same knee that required surgery during the offseason. It took him eight months to recover from the procedure, and he managed to get in just five games upon his return to action. Expect the Maple Leafs to be cautious with his next return.
Tim Taylor, C, Tampa Bay LightningMonday 1/7, 9:37 AM CT
Tim Taylor might be able to test out his surgically repaired hip by skating this week, but he remains a long way from playing in a game. "It will be two weeks doing my own thing before I decide if I have enough to even practice with the team," he told the St. Petersburg Times. It's been four months since he underwent surgery, and the odds of him playing this season aren't good.
Martin Straka, RW, New York RangersMonday 1/7, 9:23 AM CT
Martin Straka sustained a stinger when he took a hard hit during Saturday's game. He didn't return and was hunched over and hurting in the locker room following the contest, according to the New York Daily News. It's not clear at this point if the injury will keep him off the ice at all this week.
Brendan Shanahan, RW, Monday 1/7, 9:20 AM CT
Brendan Shanahan returned from his sore neck Saturday but was unable to complete the game after injuring his left knee. Shanny said it was "just a contusion," according to the New York Daily News. The Rangers didn't have any updates on his status on Sunday, so we'll have to wait to find out if the injury will force him to miss any action.
Maxim Afinogenov, RW, Buffalo SabresMonday 1/7, 9:12 AM CT
Maxim Afinogenov missed his second straight game on Sunday due to a strained groin. He has yet to skate since sustaining the injury during Thursday's practice, according to the Buffalo News. Don't look for him to return to game action until he gets some practice in on the ice.
Derek Roy, C, Buffalo SabresMonday 1/7, 9:09 AM CT
Derek Roy was forced to exit Sunday's game in the second period due to a shoulder injury. "He’s day-to-day right now," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff told the Buffalo News. We should know more about his status after he's examined further on Monday.
Teemu Selanne, RW, Anaheim DucksMonday 1/7, 9:00 AM CT
Teemu Selanne has begun a skating program to help him determine whether he's mentally ready to return to play this season. "I have been clear with Teemu," GM Brian Burke said, according to the LA Times. "He has to tell me he has a passion to return and play. If he does, we have great interest in bringing him back. But not unless he truly wants to return to the Ducks." Selanne has been out all season while considering retirement. He scored 94 points last season, so his return would be a boon to both the Ducks and fantasy owners who took a shot on him. If for some reason he's on your waiver wire, now's the time to grab him, in case he returns.
Martin Havlat, RW, Chicago BlackhawksMonday 1/7, 8:53 AM CT
Although it appeared that Martin Havlat was going to miss another week of action, he was able to hit the ice for Sunday's game against the Red Wings. He was held scoreless in his return from a groin injury, but any time he's in a game, it's a good thing. Let's see how long he can go before his body gives out again.
Chris Osgood, G, Detroit Red WingsMonday 1/7, 8:47 AM CT
Fantasy owners may have received a break from Red Wings coach Mike Babcock. On Sunday, Babcock said he plans to rotate Dominik Hasek and Chris Osgood every other game until at least the 60th game of the season, according to the Detroit Free Press. The Red Wings have played 43 contests thus far. Assuming both netminders can stay healthy, it appears fantasy owners can safely start Hasek or Ozzy every other game.
Dominik Hasek, G, Detroit Red WingsMonday 1/7, 8:45 AM CT
Red Wings coach Mike Babcock showed a little heart for fantasy owners on Sunday when he said he plans to rotate Dominik Hasek and Chris Osgood every other game until at least the 60th game of the season, according to the Detroit Free Press.
