It appears that the knee injury that Ryan Miller sustained Friday night is not serious, according to the Buffalo News. "It looks like Ryan will be OK," coach Lindy Ruff said. "I would expect him back at practice on Monday. We didn't think it was too serious and that was confirmed. For sure, I would anticipate him playing on Tuesday." Whew! Miller failed to complete last night's game due to the injury, but it looks he's set to for next week. He's made 1158 saves thus far and has posted a .913 SV% and 2.43 GAA.

The Preds locked up J.P. Dumont to a four-year, $16 million contract on Friday, according to the Tennessean. Dumont has 45 points in 52 games this season and currently carries a franchise-record 16-game scoring streak. The Preds also will look to sign potential restricted free agents forward Martin Erat, and defensemen Ryan Suter and Shea Weber to extensions.

Sergei Fedorov tried to skate Friday but experienced headaches, according to the Columbus Dispatch. "We got farther down the path this time," coach Ken Hitchcock said of Fedorov. "We made it 75 percent of the way before he got the headache. So he'll take a day off and we'll start working his way back again." It looks like Fed's concussion will keep him out for at least another week.

Fredrik Modin has been diagnosed with a torn hamstring, an injury that will cost him at least 7-10 days, according to the Columbus Dispatch. He's only taken part in 11 games thus far and just recently returned from a back injury. Put him back on your bench.

The Blue Jackets acquired Dick Tarnstrom from the Oilers for Curtis Glencross, according to the Columbus Dispatch. "One of our weaknesses is not having enough puck-moving defensemen, and Dick will help us in that area," Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson said. "He certainly has some power-play credentials." Although he has just eight power-play points over the past two seasons, Tarnstrom racked up 38 PPP during the 2003-04 campaign and 25 PPP the season before that. He won't play until next week, but could be a decent waiver-wire pick-up to see if he steps it up with his new team.

Colby Armstrong was able to practice on Friday and appears likely to return to the mix for Saturday's game, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Armstrong, who has 20 points in 42 games this season, has missed the past two contests due to a gastrointestinal illness.

The Penguins got some great news Friday. Marc-Andre Fleury was able to practice for the first time since sustaining a high-ankle sprain back in early December, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Pens haven't set a timetable, but he hopes to return to game action within the next 10-14 days. Obviously, he'll have to get in some more practice without any setbacks before that happens, but he's skating in the right direction.

Rick DiPietro is expected to return to mind the net for the Islanders on Saturday after missing Thursday's contest due to the flu, according to Newsday. Ruslan Fedotenko and Andy Sutton also skipped Thursday's tilt for the same reason and are slated to hit the ice Saturday as well.

Joffrey Lupul continues to receive good news about his recovery from a spinal cord contusion, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "My neck is a little stiff but that's maybe from jumping back in the gym a little too hard and too quick, but that will be gone by tomorrow," he said. "The MRI was good. I see the team doctor and the neurosurgeon [today], and they'll make a diagnosis." He's hoping that doctors will clear him to return from the spinal injury and a concussion to practice on Monday. He was ripping things up before being sidelined, scoring 16 goals and tallying 35 points in 39 games.

Ryan Miller was unable to complete Friday's game due to a leg injury, according to the Buffalo News. Miller was injured with about five minutes left in the second period when he was interfered with by the Thrasher's Chris Thorburn. Although he finished the period, Miller didn't return for the third. The Sabres failed to announce what the injury was, but said he'd be examined further on Saturday.

The Thrashers can take a collective sigh of relief after an MRI revealed that Ilya Kovalchuk has no structural damage in his knee, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Kovy said doctors initially told him he'd miss 1-3 weeks due to the injury, but he plans to work out Saturday to see how the joint reacts. He'll be re-examined early next week, so keep him out of your lineups for now.
