J.D. Forrest was acquired by the San Jose Sharks from the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday for future considerations according to a report from TSN. Forrest has 10 points in 19 games with the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate in Albany. He also spent time with two ECHL teams this season. Forrest will report to the Sharks' top affiliate in Worcester.

Jordin Tootoo skated on his own Wednesday morning, but coach Barry Trotz hesitated to give a timetable for Tootoo's return to practice. "He's really at his own pace," Trotz said in the Nashville Tennessean. "We are increasing his workload every day, but we are not at the point where we are increasing his workload with equipment." Tootoo has missed the last 13 games because of a hip flexor injury.

Jonathan Toews is participating in full practices has been lobbying to play on Sunday against the Canucks, but coach Denis Savard has said there is "no chance" of that happening. The coach stated that Wednesday would be the earliest Toews could be back on the ice, according to the Chicago Tribune. Toews hasn't played since Jan. 1 because of a sprained knee.
