Marty Turco, G, Dallas StarsMonday 2/11, 10:03 PM CT
Marty Turco allowed only one goal on Monday night stopping 19 of 20 shots in his return to action from a sore neck (he had sat out the last two games). Turco is now 24-11-4 on the year to move within six victories of his fifth straight 30-win season. He may not always post the pretty numbers, but he gets the job done and does sport a 2.30 GAA on the year.
Ilya Bryzgalov, G, Phoenix CoyotesMonday 2/11, 9:59 PM CT
Ilya Bryzgalov made 42 saves on Monday night though it wasn't enough as the Coyotes fell 2-1 to the Stars. Ilya stopped the first 40 shots he faced on the night before allowing two goals on the final four shots he faced. Bryzgalov falls to 20-16-5 on the year, and he is working on a bit of a cold spell that has seen him allow three goals in five of the past eight games.
Mike Modano, C, Dallas StarsMonday 2/11, 9:55 PM CT
Mike Modano scored the game winning goal on Monday night with a power-play tally with under four minutes left in the game. Modano also added an assist in the game, the seventh straight victory for the Stars. Modano certainly isn't the scorer he once was, but he does have 16 goals and 41 points after a dreadful start that saw him score only two goals and produce five points over his first 14 games.
Kevin Dallman, D, Los Angeles KingsMonday 2/11, 8:03 PM CT
Kevin Dallman was added to the Kings roster on Monday night according to a report on the AP. Dallman has scored a point in nine NHL games this season. Dallman is fantasy irrelevant unless a whole lot changes with how the Kings lineup is structured, so this move shouldn't cause anyone to run to the waiver-wire.
Hannu Toivonen, G, Monday 2/11, 5:30 PM CT
Hannu Toivonen was assigned to the AHL on Monday as the Blues recalled Chris Beckford-Tseu and Yan Stastny from the Perioa Riverman according to the AP. Hannu has been sub par for most of the season as Manny Legace's backup posting a completely substandard .877 SV%. Unfortunately, over his last 34 NHL games, Toivonen's SV% is just .876. What happened to the rookie we witnessed in 2005-06 (.914 SV%)?
Ryan O'Byrne, D, Montreal CanadiensMonday 2/11, 5:07 PM CT
A day after he was recalled to the NHL, Ryan O'Byrne was arrested and charged with stealing a woman's purse according to AP. Also arrested was Tom Kostopoulos who was charged with resisting arrest. Luckily for both players, the team will not impose any sanctions though what happens with the law remains to be seen. "They must face whatever awaits them after their actions," GM Bob Gainey said. Great move Ryan, way to ingratiate yourself with the team. He had little fantasy value to begin with and this situation certainly doesn't figure to garner him extra playing time.
Joe Sakic, C, Colorado AvalancheMonday 2/11, 4:48 PM CT
Joe Sakic returned to the ice on Monday as he skated prior to the Avalanche's practice according to the AP. Sakic, attempting to comeback from hernia surgery, still has a few hurdles to clear before being cleared for game action. Always a point-per-game performer, Sakic should once again return to that level once he is healthy enough to skate.
Ryan Smyth, LW, Colorado AvalancheMonday 2/11, 4:44 PM CT
Ryan Smyth returned to practice on Monday from a broken foot that has caused him to miss Colorado's last 26 games according to the AP. Smyth was able to skate at practice and even absorb a little physical contact. He is a bit ahead of schedule at this point and could see action in the next week to 10 days.
Krys Barch, RW, Dallas StarsMonday 2/11, 4:22 PM CT
Krys Barch was signed to a 2-year contract extension to remain with the Stars according to NHL.com. Barch will make $1.15 million over the next two seasons. Barch is a rough and tumble player who offers physicality in spades. He had 107 PIM in 26 games last year, and this year he has 78 in 34 games. He can't score a lick though with only eight points in his career.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere, G, Anaheim DucksMonday 2/11, 4:16 PM CT
Jean-Sebastien Giguere was named the NHL's third star according to NHL.com. Giguere went 3-0 on the week for the Ducks while posting a 1.01 GAA and .956 save percentage. Evgeni Malkin, C, Pittsburgh PenguinsMonday 2/11, 4:13 PM CT
Evgeni Malkin was named the NHL's second star according to NHL.com. Malkin scored 12 points (3g, 9a) in four games to lead the Penguins to a 3-1 mark. Simon Gagne, LW, Philadelphia FlyersMonday 2/11, 2:39 PM CT
Flyers forward Simon Gagne is sidelined following his third concussion of the season, but he hopes to return before the end of the year, according to the AP. He was injured on his first shift of the Flyers' 4-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday and sat out the final two periods. Gagne, who has seven goals and 18 points in 25 games, was examined Monday by the Flyers team doctor. "I don't think the season is lost right now," Gagne said. "Hopefully, I'm not going to have any more symptoms coming up. The way I feel right now is just a balance problem. When this goes away, I will be pretty much symptom free." Gagne suffered a concussion on Oct. 24, sat out four games, then had another concussion on Nov. 7 and missed the next 26 games.

"I think we all were in shock, everybody was in shock," Jokinen said. "I've never seen anything like that. It's tough to focus on hockey after that. There's (9:56) to go in the hockey game. It was terrifying. We shouldn't have finished the hockey game."

Stillman is the best player in this trade and goes to one of the most explosive teams in the NHL. He had 21 goals and 46 points in 55 games this season and should produce at a point-per-game clip in Ottawa. Stillman waived a no-trade clause to complete the deal.
Mike Commodore, D, Columbus Blue JacketsMonday 2/11, 2:04 PM CT
The Ottawa Senators have shuffled the deck in a big way by completing a four-player transaction with the Carolina Hurricanes according to TSN.ca. Kronwall is a terrific defenseman who be missed by both the Red Wings and his fantasy owners until he's ready to return, which could be as early as next week. The Red Wings made the move now because they needed an extra roster spot to recall goaltender Jimmy Howard as insurance against Dominik Hasek's hip flexor injury.
Doug Weight, C, New York IslandersMonday 2/11, 12:25 PM CT
Doug Weight has an upper-arm injury that has bothered him for the last week, and that's why he sat out Sunday afternoon's game in Detroit, according to the LA Times. Weight flew to Anaheim and will undergo an MRI exam Monday to determine how severe it is. "It's an injury that happened 10 days ago," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "He was getting better and getting better. The game against the [New York] Islanders, he fell on it and hurt it again. And he's been basically ineffective." He has 38 points in 56 games this year, including 23 points on the power play. When asked how much Streit would receive on the open market this summer, Carbonneau said: "Millions."

"We [Waddell and Montreal GM Bob Gainey] both happened to walk in back for a cup of coffee at the same time and Marian Hossa’s name never came up in the discussion. We were talking about his team looking so good… That was the extent of it.” Hossa is likely to be dealt if he's not re-signed by the Feb. 26 trade deadline, but rumors of him heading to Montreal appear to be a bit premature.
Martin Erat, RW, Nashville PredatorsMonday 2/11, 8:51 AM CT
Martin Erat sat out a second straight game on Sunday because of back spasms, according to the Nashville Tennessean. Erat is a very underrated player who has notched 16 goals and 40 points in 51 games this season. This injury shouldn't sideline him for long.

After a woeful performance last night that saw him allow three goals on four shots before being pulled, Ilya Bryzgalov will still get the start in goal in Monday's game in Dallas, but Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky said he "has to be way better," according to the Arizona Republic. Bryzgalov has been terrific since being acquired on waivers from the Ducks early in the season, and he's the primary reason the 'Yotes are in the playoff race at all. He's earned a mulligan.
Manny Fernandez, G, Boston BruinsMonday 2/11, 7:42 AM CT
Manny Fernandez, now two months past surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left knee, might not be finished for the season after all, according to the Boston Globe. "How soon I'll be back, I can't say," Fernandez said. "I guess I'm kind of a test dummy, you could say. We're working hard at this, with two-a-day workouts, and I'm getting excited . . . my adrenaline is beginning to flow." Fernandez was able to play in only four games this season, his first in Boston, before finally submitting to MCL surgery.

They (doctors) put in three plates and a bunch of screws. He will have his jaw wired shut for two weeks. He won't be able to skate for four weeks. He should be playing in eight weeks. We do expect him to be ready for the first game of the playoffs." Cleary, a first-round pick of the Oilers 11 years ago, was enjoying a terrific season with 20 goals, 40 points and a plus 23 rating.
Fredrik Modin, LW, Columbus Blue JacketsMonday 2/11, 7:30 AM CT

Kent Huskins, D, Anaheim DucksMonday 2/11, 12:58 AM CT
Kent Huskins scored a goal and finished at plus-2 as the Ducks upset the Red Wings in Joe Louis Arena on Sunday. Huskins has no fantasy value in traditional formats.

Chris Kunitz helped the World Champion Ducks to a road win in Detroit Sunday. The winger recorded an assist and finished at plus-2 while extending his points streak to three games. Kunitz's fantasy relevance rests in large leagues with deep benches.
Jaromir Jagr, RW, Monday 2/11, 12:42 AM CT
The Capital fans could be heard singing "We ain't what we used to be" on Sunday afternoon as the Rangers lost to the red hot Capitals. New York's Jaromir Jagr was who the song was directed at as the future Hall of Famer was held scoreless in a seventh game in a row. As has become a custom in Washington, the fans jeered Jagr every time he touched the puck. Jagr failed to fulfill high expectations with the Capitals from 2001-04.
Sean Avery, LW, Dallas StarsMonday 2/11, 12:37 AM CT
Sean Avery scored his sixth goal of the season Sunday in a losing overtime effort against the Capitals. It was his second goal in four games. The Rangers enforcer is not a top-tiered fantasy option in traditional formats, but in PIM leagues the right winger has value.
Olaf Kolzig, G, Tampa Bay LightningMonday 2/11, 12:34 AM CT
Olaf Kolzig registered his 10th win in his last 15 starts on Sunday. Kolzig made 31 saves in the 3-2 overtime win against the Rangers. Few goalies have been as inconsistent as Kolzig this season but the Caps are red hot and Kolzig is along for the ride. He currently should be considered a No. 1 fantasy option.
