Derian Hatcher, D, Philadelphia FlyersThursday 2/14, 11:06 PM CT
Derian Hatcher was held out of Thursday's game with fluid in his right knee. Hatcher's two goals and five assists in 40 games this season doesn't excite in the fantasy realm.
Joffrey Lupul, RW, Philadelphia FlyersThursday 2/14, 11:01 PM CT
Joffrey Lupul netted a goal and registered an assist in Thursday's game against the Lightning. Lupul has a goal and an assist in two straight games. Lupul has been slow to round into form after missing a month to a neck injury but his last two performances have been encouraging.

Ruslan Fedotenko, LW, Pittsburgh PenguinsThursday 2/14, 9:50 PM CT
Ruslan Fedotenko netted two of the Islanders four power-play goals on Thursday night as New York defeated Toronto 5-4. Fedotenko's two goals gives him 25 points in 50 games, not a line that will make him attractive to the fantasy collective.
Eric Staal, C, Carolina HurricanesThursday 2/14, 9:41 PM CT
Eric Staal scored his first goal since being selected the MVP at the All Star game. The Hurricane center now has a total of 28 goals on the season -- and is a fantasy asset in any format.

Defensemen Casey Borer , Tim Conboy and Joey Mormina were all called up from from Albany on Thursday. Center Matt Cullen, right wing Patrick Eaves and defenseman Dennis Seidenberg were all placed on injured reserve. Borer will be making his second appearance with the Hurricanes and hopes it will be as successful as his first stop with the team. Aaron Ward, D, Boston BruinsThursday 2/14, 2:50 PM CT
Aaron Ward injured his neck early in the second period of Wednesday's game against the Penguins and was in stable condition in a hospital. Ward was not bleeding when he left the ice and did not leave on a stretcher, but coach Claude Julien said the defenseman did cough up blood before exiting, according to the AP. The Bruins were told Ward wasn't seriously hurt, but that he should remain in the hospital for at least 24 hours as a precaution. "They just want to play it safe and keep him here for 24 hours before they release him," Julien said. "All I know is that he was coughing up some blood and that's why they sent him to the hospital and they have him under observation, to make sure everything is under control." Boston doesn't play until Saturday, but Ward's status for that contest is obviously up in the air.
Tyler Kennedy, C, Pittsburgh PenguinsThursday 2/14, 1:04 PM CT
The Penguins recalled Tyler Kennedy from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL Thursday. He had been sent down on a conditioning stint after recovering from a bout with mono, according to TSN.ca. The 21-year-old is very talented and could be worth a pickup in deeper leagues.
Jack Skille, RW, Chicago BlackhawksThursday 2/14, 1:01 PM CT
Jack Skille was sent back to Rockford of the AHL Thursday to make room on the roster for Corey Crawford. The Hawks needed another goalie around with Nikolai Khabibulin banged up. Skille is talented and worth keeping an eye on, but he doesn't figure to make any fantasy noise over the rest of the year.
Corey Crawford, G, Chicago BlackhawksThursday 2/14, 12:58 PM CT
The Blackhawks recalled Corey Crawford from Rockford of the AHL Thursday. The team needed some depth after starter Nikolai Khabibulin went down with a knee injury last night. Crawford is a good prospect but doesn't figure to get much playing time right now.
Nikolai Khabibulin, G, Chicago BlackhawksThursday 2/14, 12:56 PM CT
Nikolai Khabibulin sprained a knee during Wednesday's game and won't play tonight versus Nashville, according to TSN.ca. Patrick Lalime will get the start, and the team recalled Corey Crawford from Rockford of the AHL for depth.
Kevin Bieksa, D, Vancouver CanucksThursday 2/14, 12:49 PM CT
Kevin Bieksa is close to being ready to return to practice. "We gave him today off, but he has responded well the past couple of days and he's going to skate again tomorrow morning and we'll see after that," coach Alain Vigneault said. "He is getting very, very close." Bieksa has been out since suffering a lacerated calf muscle on Nov. 1. He's expected to do a conditioning stint with Manitoba of the AHL before seeing game action with the Canucks.
Tom Poti, D, Washington CapitalsThursday 2/14, 11:57 AM CT
Tom Poti left Wednesday's game in Atlanta late in the first period with a lower body injury, according to the Washington Times. The team considers the defenseman day-to-day.
Aaron Ward, D, Boston BruinsThursday 2/14, 9:11 AM CT
Aaron Ward is expected to make his way back to Boston today after remaining overnight at Presbyterian University Hospital in the wake of getting hit in the throat by Penguins defenseman Sergei Gonchar during Wednesday night's game in Pittsburgh, according to the Boston Globe. Bruins coach Claude Julien said Ward should be OK but was held overnight for observation because he "was spitting up some blood."
Chuck Kobasew, RW, Boston BruinsThursday 2/14, 9:07 AM CT
Chuck Kobasew, sidelined in the third period of Tuesday night's game, did not dress against the Penguins Wednesday night. The Boston Globe reports that Bruins coach Claude Julien said that Kobasew was sidelined by a back injury, one that isn't expected to keep him out too long. "If it were a playoff game, maybe we'd have gotten him in there," said Julien. "But he didn't have much [range of motion]." Kobasew has a team-leading 19 goals for the Bruins this season, and it's obviously good news that he won't be out long.
Matt Cullen, C, Carolina HurricanesThursday 2/14, 9:02 AM CT
Matt Cullen is still suffering from distorted vision, the result of a Dec. 26 open-ice hit that has caused him to miss the last six games and 15 games overall. The Raleigh News & Observer reports that there is no timetable for Cullen's return. "It's slow. It's really slow," Cullen said. "It's taking awhile." An underrated playmaker, Cullen has 39 points in 44 games this year and has emerged into a legitimate No. 2 center, so the Hurricanes need to get him back soon if they hope to win the Southeast Division.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere, G, Anaheim DucksThursday 2/14, 8:58 AM CT
Bolstered by the airtight goaltending of Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who posted a 3-0-0 record during the week, the Ducks won five consecutive road games during their season-long, nine-game trip, according to RotoTimes sources. The Ducks have won five straight and are gelling at the right time as the team pushes for a top seed in the Western Conference.
Adam Foote, D, Colorado AvalancheThursday 2/14, 8:52 AM CT
The Blue Jackets may look to deal captain Adam Foote before the Feb. 26 trade deadline, but coach Ken Hitchcock seems to favor re-signing the rugged defenseman. "The thing about Adam is, as a coach you don't ever want to lose from your leadership group," Hitchcock told the Columbus Dispatch. "You don't want to take away from that, because you know how hard it is to build that up."
Pascal Leclaire, G, Columbus Blue JacketsThursday 2/14, 8:48 AM CT
Pascal Leclaire didn't start Wednesday night's game because he was ailing from the flu, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Fredrik Norrena started in Leclaire's place Wednesday and struggled mightily in a 7-2 loss to the Blackhawks.
Joe Sakic, C, Colorado AvalancheThursday 2/14, 8:44 AM CT
Joe Sakic, on injured reserve after hernia surgery, did some skating on his own before practice yesterday and is making progress in his recovery, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "In the back of everybody's mind it's encouraging knowing that he's getting closer and that he'll be helping to inject some experience and leadership, a top hockey player, to our group," Avalanche head coach Joel Quenneville said. "It's encouraging to see the progress he's making, and that he's not so far away." Even though he's pushing 40, Sakic is still an elite offensive player.
Ryan Smyth, LW, Colorado AvalancheThursday 2/14, 8:40 AM CT
Ryan Smyth will play tonight against the Blues after missing 18 games with a broken right ankle, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "I'm finally getting in and it's very exciting," Smyth said. "Six weeks is a long time, I guess, in the hockey world. But when you have anything broken at any point in your life, six weeks isn't that long. I'm fortunate that it recovered well and I'm really eager to get my feet wet right away." Smyth, who had 11 goals and 28 points in 36 games prior to suffering the injury, is likely to play on a line with red-hot rookie T.J. Hensick and veteran sniper Milan Hejduk.
Brett Clark, D, Colorado AvalancheThursday 2/14, 8:36 AM CT
The Avalanche will be without Brett Clark for an indefinite period because of a dislocated shoulder, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Clark is a pretty solid offensive defenseman with 21 points in 57 games this season. He's not a fantasy stud by any stretch but held some value in deeper leagues.
Chris Osgood, G, Detroit Red WingsThursday 2/14, 8:29 AM CT
With Dominik Hasek sidelined with a hip flexor injury, Chris Osgood will get his second straight start Friday at home against Columbus, even though he's struggled lately and was pulled early in Tuesday night's game in Nashville, according to the Detroit Free Press. Osgood is 1-3 with a 3.93 GAA in four starts this month.
Jordin Tootoo, RW, Nashville PredatorsThursday 2/14, 8:24 AM CT
Jordin Tootoo is making progress in his recovery from a hip flexor injury and could be back in the Predators' lineup as early as this weekend, according to the Nashville Tennessean. "Things are coming along pretty well,'' said Tootoo, who has missed the last 17 games. "The doctors have been kind of surprised at how fast my recovery is coming and I'm thankful for that. I think a few more practices and I should be ready.'' One of the NHL's most hated players because of his questionable tactics, Tootoo's primary fantasy value comes from his penalty minutes. He has 57 PIM in 41 games this year.
Martin Hanzal, C, Phoenix CoyotesThursday 2/14, 8:15 AM CT
Martin Hanzal skated for a second consecutive day and probably is "three or four games" from returning from his shoulder injury, Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky told the Arizona Republic. The gifted rookie is on a 40-point pace this season and should be a core player for the Coyotes for years to come.
Shane Doan, RW, Phoenix CoyotesThursday 2/14, 8:13 AM CT
Shane Doan could be in the lineup tonight against Dallas, even though he didn't practice Wednesday, according to the Arizona Republic. "He could have practiced," Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky said, "but my feeling was to give it one more day of healing." Doan ranks as one of the game's top power forwards with 18 goals and 54 points in 55 games this season.
Patrick Marleau, C, San Jose SharksThursday 2/14, 8:05 AM CT
Patrick Marleau didn't skate Wednesday because of his groin injury and is doubtful for tonight's game against the Oilers, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Marleau missed his first game of the season Tuesday. He's been a major disappointment this year with just 28 points in 55 games.
Vesa Toskala, G, Toronto Maple LeafsThursday 2/14, 12:46 AM CT
Vesa Toskala stopped 19 of 20 shots but it wasn't enough as the Leafs fell 1-0 to the Sabres on Wednesday night. Toskala's numbers have vacillated all season thanks to a rather porous defensive unit in front of him, but he has held down the fort the past three games allowing only five goals while going 2-1. Toskala is a much better goalie than his 2.62 GAA would suggest, but when you face 30 shots a night it's hard to keep that GAA down. His numbers will improve if the defense in front of him ever does.
Ryan Miller, G, Buffalo SabresThursday 2/14, 12:39 AM CT
Ryan Miller was amazing for the Sabres stopping all 35 shots he faced to earn his third shutout of the season on Wednesday night. Miller has been hotter than a lit cigar of late with three straight wins as he has allowed a total of just four goals, and he is 8-0-1 with only 15 goals allowed over the last nine. Miller has certainly turned around what was shaping up to be nothing more than an average season in Buffalo as he continues to keep the team in games that they really have no business being in.
Tim Thomas, G, Boston BruinsThursday 2/14, 12:32 AM CT
Tim Thomas rebounded from an embarrassing six goals allowed performance last time out to save 20 of 21 shots against Pittsburgh on Wednesday night. Thomas currently sports a .925% save percentage on the season providing starting goalie numbers from a keeper selected to be a backup this season. If you have him on your roster and you aren't near the top of the goalie categories, something is really wrong.
Evgeni Malkin, C, Pittsburgh PenguinsThursday 2/14, 12:29 AM CT
Evgeni Malkin continued his role on Wednesday night as he scored the Penguins lone goal in their 2-1 loss to the Bruins. Over his last 18 games Malkin has potted 17 goals and totaled 33 points. If not for Alexander Ovechkin's crazy strong performance Malkin would be "the" NHL story right now.
Carey Price, G, Montreal CanadiensThursday 2/14, 12:24 AM CT
Carey Price stopped 35 of 36 shots on Wednesday night to lead the Canadiens to an emotional victory over the Panthers. Price has put together quite a rookie season in the pressure cooker in Quebec, and for that he is to be commended. Cristobal Huet is still the team's top option in net, but Price can push for more time if he can play like this more often after being mired in a slump that saw him allow at least three goals in each of his previous five starts.
Alexei Kovalev, RW, Montreal CanadiensThursday 2/14, 12:19 AM CT
Alexei Kovalev scored the OT winner on the power-play, his 15th goal with the man advantage, in Montreal's 2-1 victory over the Panthers. Kovalev is one of the 10-most gifted offensive players in the NHL but consistency always seems to elude him. This year he has found that which he had lost as he now has 26 goals and 55 points in just 58 games making him one of the best late round gambles this season.
Fredrik Norrena, G, Columbus Blue JacketsThursday 2/14, 12:16 AM CT
Fredrik Norrena allowed six goals on 28 shots as not a single player on the Blue Jackets finished the game with a plus rating in their 7-2 loss to Chicago. It's hard to blame this loss on the goalie, but hopefully for your fantasy squad you didn't have this brutal outing in your lineup. Over his three previous games Norrena had allowed only six goals, so expect a rebound from him the next time he finds himself between the pipes.
Martin Havlat, RW, Chicago BlackhawksThursday 2/14, 12:12 AM CT
Martin Havlat scored a goal and added an assist for the Blackhawks as did Robert Lang, Brent Seabrook and James Wisniewski on Wednesday night. Havlat now has six points in his last six games, though we all know it's probably just a matter of hours before he is injured doing something like getting out of the shower. Havlat has 78 points in 83 games since becoming a Blackhawk but his 123 trips to the IR continue to diminish his worth.
Dustin Byfuglien, LW, Chicago BlackhawksThursday 2/14, 12:09 AM CT
Dustin Byfuglien scored two goals to pace a Blackhawks attack that scored 7-2 in a thrashing of the Blue Jackets on Wednesday night. Dustin now has an impressive 11 goals in 43 games as he is quietly becoming one of the better goal scoring defensemen in the NHL. Now, if only he could improve upon that (-9).
Jason Spezza, C, Ottawa SenatorsThursday 2/14, 12:03 AM CT
Jason Spezza was the only player on his line to score a point as he had a measly assist in the Sens 3-2 OT loss to the Devils. Any time a team can keep Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson off the scorebard they will have a great chance to win, and that formula proved successful in New Jersey tonight.
Brian Gionta, RW, New Jersey DevilsThursday 2/14, 12:01 AM CT
Brian Gionta snapped a 13-game goalless drought on Wednesday night by scoring his 14th goal of the season. One of the bigger busts up front this season, Gionta, who scored 48 goals in 2005-06 and 25 last season, is barely on pace to record 20 this season, a plateau the smallish sniper should hit every season with little trouble.
