Ty Conklin had been playing well while Fleury was out but has struggled recently. Look for Fleury to eventually get his job back, though it might be a couple weeks.

He is set to undergo further examination by the team's medical staff over the next few days. This is bad timing, as Svatos was in the midst of a five-game point streak. Gleason averages over one PIM per game and has chipped in two goals and 12 assists this season.

Todd White was unable to play Saturday after sustaining a cut on his elbow during the Thrashers' previous contest, according to the Altanta Journal-Constitution. "His arm completely stiffened up," said coach Don Waddell. White needed 20 stitches to close the gash, so he may end up missing some more action. He has 14 goals and 37 points this season but carries an ugly minus-11 rating.

Ryan Smyth scored two second-period goals on Saturday night, but was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being checked into the boards, this according to the LA Times. The Colorado forward was motionless on the ice for several minutes as trainers rushed to attend to him, notes the report. Colorado officials reported that he was conscious and walking but was sent to the hospital for further examination. Smyth's goals, his 13th and 14th of the season, helped the Avalanche take a 5-2 win over the Kings.

With 18 regular-season games remaining, the Wild are in a position to capture their first division title and their highest postseason seed ever as a franchise. "It's an honor," Gaborik said. "I've been here since the beginning, and this is the first time, so it's definitely special." Gaborik leads the Wild in points (33-31-64), game winning goals (seven), and is a team-best plus-11 this season.
