Daniel Sedin, W, Vancouver CanucksThursday 3/6, 11:59 PM CT
Daniel Sedin wasn't able to score a goal on Thursday night despite taking eight shots, but he picked up the first star of the game thanks to his all-around effort which included three assists. It's about time. Daniel had gone four games without a point before tonight's outburst, and the strange thing is that the last five times he has ended up on the scoresheet he has actually totaled at least two points in each outing.
Greg DeVries, D, Nashville PredatorsThursday 3/6, 11:56 PM CT
Not only did Greg DeVries score a goal on Thursday night he also went nuts and produced 25 PIM thanks to a wild scene that took place with less than a minute left in the game as he managed to pick up five for fighting, 10 for a misconduct and 10 more for a game misconduct in his most prolific game of the year. DeVries entered the game with two goals and 42 PIM, so if you somehow had him in your lineup tonight you should count your blessings.
Dan Ellis, G, Nashville PredatorsThursday 3/6, 11:53 PM CT
Dan Ellis allowed three goals on just 11 shots in the first period before he was pulled from the game on Thursday night. Chris Mason ended up allowing three goals on 33 shots in relief as the Canucks generated 44 shots on the night. So much for Ellis and his solid play. Look for the Predators to turn back to Mason in their next game as Ellis fell to 17-7-2 on the year.
Mikael Tellqvist, G, Phoenix CoyotesThursday 3/6, 11:10 PM CT
Mikael Tellqvist started in net on Thursday night for the Coyotes but he ultimately allowed four goals on just 20 shots to pick up his sixth loss in regulation. Tellqvist had allowed only two goals in his last two starts before tonight, but with the way that Ilya Bryzgalov is rolling in net, the only reason Mikael played tonight was to give Ilya a rest.
Christopher Higgins, C, Montreal CanadiensThursday 3/6, 11:08 PM CT
Christopher Higgins had two assists on Thursday night in the Habs victory over the Coyotes. Over his last five games Higgins has six points as he is slowly starting to become a productive member of the offense again.
Alexei Kovalev, W, Montreal CanadiensThursday 3/6, 11:07 PM CT
Alexei Kovalev didn't score a goal on Thursday night but he was still all over the stat sheet as he produced three assists in the team's victory. In 19 games since the all-star break, Kovalev has totaled eight goals and 27 points.
Carey Price, G, Montreal CanadiensThursday 3/6, 10:51 PM CT
Carey Price was the first star on Thursday night as he stopped 37 of 39 shots in the Canadiens 4-3 victory over the Coyotes. This is just the type of bounce back performance the team was looking for from Price who allowed six goals in his last outing. In fact, over his last five starts, he has allowed more than two goals only that one time.
Paul Stastny, C, Colorado AvalancheThursday 3/6, 10:45 PM CT
Paul Stastny had an assist on Wojtek Wolski's goal on Thursday night in the Av's 1-0 victory over the Ducks. In seven games since returning to the ice, Stastny has three goals and three assists to up his season totals to 20 goals and 35 assists in 53 games.
Jonas Hiller, G, Anaheim DucksThursday 3/6, 10:42 PM CT
Jonas Hiller, making a rare start, stopped 29 of 30 shots in a 1-0 loss to the Avalanche on Thursday night. The Ducks have allowed just six goals in their last four games but they are an unsightly 1-3 thanks to little in the way of goal scoring as they have been shutout out three times.
Jose Theodore, G, Washington CapitalsThursday 3/6, 10:40 PM CT
Jose Theodore picked up his second shutout of the season on Thursday night as he stopped all 27 shots that the Ducks threw at him in Colorado's 1-0 victory. Theodore has been tremendous of late as he has won 5-straight starts for the Avalanche during which time he has allowed just seven goals.
Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York RangersThursday 3/6, 10:37 PM CT
Henrik Lundqvist allowed just one goal on 27 shots on Thursday night as the Rangers improved to 8-0-3 in their last 11 games. This was a nice bounce back effort since Henrik had allowed six goals in his last four periods. This victory, his 30th of the season, allowed him to reach that total for the third time in three NHL seasons.
Sean Avery, W, Dallas StarsThursday 3/6, 10:35 PM CT
Sean Avery continued his amazing play of late with two goals on Thursday night. Producing his best contract drive play, Avery now has nine goals and 13 points in 17 games since the All-Star game during which time he is a +9 with 60 PIM. The Rangers can't afford to lose him, and with each passing game his price seems to go up so they might want to lock him up soon or face the real possibility of losing him this off-season.
Wade Dubielewicz, G, New York IslandersThursday 3/6, 10:32 PM CT
Wade Dubielewicz started in goal for the Isles but he and his mates fell 4-1 to the cross-town rival Rangers. Wade allowed three goals in 27 shots, but the shoddy defense that has plagued Rick DiPietro all season reared its ugly head tonight. The team has two days of practice to decide who starts in net, but it appears that DiPietro may have lost his hold on the starters role.
Pavol Demitra, W, Vancouver CanucksThursday 3/6, 10:29 PM CT
Pavol Demitra scored a goal on Thursday night to extend his point streak to five games for the Wild. Demitra has only one point in each outing but after a four games stretch that saw him fail to register a point, it's great to see him back on the scoresheet.
Matt Cullen, C, Carolina HurricanesThursday 3/6, 10:25 PM CT
Matt Cullen scored a goal and added an assist on Thursday night in the Canes 3-2 victory over the Wild. Cullen started out the year tremendously with 37 points in his first 39 games, but then injuries conspired to ruin his season. Since January 1st he has skated in only 15 games during which time he has totaled 10 points.
Joe Corvo, D, Carolina HurricanesThursday 3/6, 10:22 PM CT
Joe Corvo continued his hot play of late with a goal and an assist on Thursday night against the Wild. Corvo now has nine points in 11 games since joining the Canes as he continues to put up the points amidst little fanfare.
Sidney Crosby, C, Pittsburgh PenguinsThursday 3/6, 10:08 PM CT
Sidney Crosby, playing in his second game since returning from his injured ankle picked up an assist on Thursday and his second point in two games. Crosby continues to work himself back into game shape, but there is simply no way to keep this dynamic player off the score sheet even if he is operating at less than 100%.
Marc-Andre Fleury, G, Pittsburgh PenguinsThursday 3/6, 10:06 PM CT
Marc-Andre Fleury started in net for the Penguins and allowed three goals on 19 shots before being relieved by Ty Conklin who stopped 21 of 22 shots in two periods. Fleury had won his last two starts while allowing just two goals, so tonight's outing was a bit of a disappointment. Given the recent struggles of Conklin prior to tonight, Fleury appears to be in the lead for playing time moving forward in the Pens net.
Olli Jokinen, C, Phoenix CoyotesThursday 3/6, 10:03 PM CT
Olli Jokinen put 10 shots on net on Thursday night, and though he didn't score a goal he still posted two assists in the Panthers victory over the Penguins. Jokinen is second in the league with 300 shots on goal though he has beaten the goalie only once in his last 12 games.
Stephen Weiss, C, Florida PanthersThursday 3/6, 10:00 PM CT
Stephen Weiss scored a goal, the game-winner, and added an assist for the Panthers on Thursday night. Weiss has been on quite the scoring streak of late with eight points in his last seven games for the Panthers, and after returning quicker than expected from a broken finger he has three points in three games.
Craig Anderson, G, Florida PanthersThursday 3/6, 9:58 PM CT
Craig Anderson lost his shutout streak in the first period on Thursday night but he still stopped 25 of 27 shots to pick up his third straight victory for the Panthers. After the game HC Jacques Martin was non-committal about who would start the next game for the Panthers, but who would you start if one of your goalies had allowed three goals in four games?
Mike Smith, G, Tampa Bay LightningThursday 3/6, 9:55 PM CT
Mike Smith allowed three goals on 25 shots on Thursday night to fall to 1-4 as a member of the Lightning. Smith has allowed more than three goals only once in his five outings with the new club, but just as all Lightning goalies have come to learn this year, that usually isn't good enough to pick up a win.
Jussi Jokinen, W, Tampa Bay LightningThursday 3/6, 9:51 PM CT
Jussi Jokinen scored a goal and added an assist for the Bolts in their 3-2 loss to the Flyers on Thursday. This was the first tally in five games for Jussi since joining the Lightning. Overall he has 15 goals in 57 games on the year.
Jeff Carter, C, Philadelphia FlyersThursday 3/6, 9:49 PM CT
The red-hot Jeff Carter scored two goals on Thursday night including the game-winner for the Flyers. Carter has five goals and seven points in his last four games. Carter now has a career-high 25 goals on the year as he has benefited greatly of late from the extra ice-time he is getting due to the injury to Mike Richards.
Tim Thomas, G, Boston BruinsThursday 3/6, 9:47 PM CT
Tim Thomas allowed five goals on just 23 shots to the Leafs on Monday night in his second straight brutal outing. Thomas has allowed a shocking 12 goals in his last two outings and he simply must be benched in the short-term before he torpedoes your team's GAA.
Alexander Steen, W, Toronto Maple LeafsThursday 3/6, 9:45 PM CT
Alexander Steen dished out three assists on Thursday night in the Leafs 8-2 demolishing of the Bruins. Steen scored 45 points as a rookie, and followed that up with 35 points last year. He has 33 points through 63 games this year so it looks like his production will likely fall right between the numbers he posted his first two seasons.
Nik Antropov, W, Toronto Maple LeafsThursday 3/6, 9:43 PM CT
Nik Antropov scored two goals on Thursday night to extend his goal scoring streak to three games. Antropov already has career best numbers with 26 goals, 52 points and 11 power-play tallies in a fantastic all around season for the Leafs.
Bryan McCabe, D, Toronto Maple LeafsThursday 3/6, 9:41 PM CT
Bryan McCabe finally recaptured his old scoring touch on Thursday night as he scored a goal and dished out three assists for the Leafs. In 40 previous games this year McCabe had only four goals and 13 assists, so it's about time that he finally broke out and put up some points. Nothing he can do at this point of the season will make up for what has already transpired, but that doesn't mean those of you who held on to him shouldn't reap some benefit.
Daniel Alfredsson, W, Ottawa SenatorsThursday 3/6, 6:25 PM CT
Daniel Alfredsson will not suit up on Thursday night for the Sens game against the Kings, this according to the AP. This will be the second straight game that the captain has missed due to his injured back. The team is hoping he can return to action on Saturday. The good news is that he is improving and it appears that the team is being cautious as they realize they have no shot at advancing in the playoffs without a healthy Alfie.
Marc-Andre Fleury, G, Pittsburgh PenguinsThursday 3/6, 5:37 PM CT
The following goalies are in line to start on Thursday night: Marc-Andre Fleury (PIT), Craig Anderson (FLA), Henrik Lundqvist (NYR), Wade Dubielewicz (NYI), Vesa Toskala (TOR), Tim Thomas (BOS), Carey Price (MTL), Mikael Tellqvis (PHX), Martin Gerber (OTT), Erik Ersberg (LA), Mike Smith (TB), Martin Biron (PHI), Josh Harding (MIN), Cam Ward (CAR), Jonas Hiller (ANA), Jose Theodore (COL), Dan Ellis (NSH), Roberto Luongo (VAN).
Daniel Briere, C, Philadelphia FlyersThursday 3/6, 5:10 PM CT
Daniel Briere will play for the Flyers on Thursday night, this after missing the team's last game due to an injured shoulder, according to a report on the AP. Briere will return to play with Vaclav Prospal and R.J. Umberger on a line that must score if the Flyers hope to advance to the playoffs this season.
Dan Ellis, G, Nashville PredatorsThursday 3/6, 5:07 PM CT
Dan Ellis will make his third straight start in goal for the Predators on Thursday night, this according to The Tennessean. Ellis has been playing better of late than Chris Mason, and as a result the team will go with its "backup" tonight. Ellis is an ultra impressive 17-6-2 on the year, and he has allowed just two goals in his last two starts.
Jochen Hecht, W, Buffalo SabresThursday 3/6, 4:42 PM CT
Jochen Hecht is about ready to return to the ice for the Sabres, possibly on Saturday, this after missing seven games due to a groin injury, according to NHL.com. To make room on the roster, the team demoted Clarke MacArthur. Hecht has 37 points in 61 games on the year, and will bring a needed force up front for the Sabres lineup given the fact that MacArthur has struggled with just four points in his last 15 games.
Wade Dubielewicz, G, New York IslandersThursday 3/6, 4:06 PM CT
Wade Dubielewicz appears to be in line to start for the Isles on Thursday though no official word has been given, this according to NHL.com. "I was told I wasn't playing," starter Rick DiPietro said. "At the end of the day, that's a coach's decision. Dubie has played well. It was unfortunate I was away a couple of days and missed time." DiPietro has been out of action since the death of his grandmother. If he doesn't play tonight chances are pretty strong that he will be back in the nets for the Isles next game.
Ryan Smyth, W, Colorado AvalancheThursday 3/6, 3:19 PM CT
Ryan Smyth suffered a concussion and a slight shoulder separation during battle with the Kings on Saturday but Colorado thinks he may be able to return before the end of the the season, according to the Denver Post. Smyth notably held his own this season while scoring 33 points over 45 games and his services will be missed while he is on the shelf.
Daniel Briere, C, Philadelphia FlyersThursday 3/6, 3:00 PM CT
Daniel Briere could miss the Flyers Thursday night game against the Islanders due to his shoulder injury, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer. Briere is needed back soon as he has generated 57 points over 66 outings this season.
Mattias Ohlund, D, Vancouver CanucksThursday 3/6, 2:52 PM CT
It has been revealed that star defender Mattias Ohlund has bone chips in his knee and could be lost for the season, according to TSN.ca. The team took measures to relieve the swelling in his injured knee, but now it appears that he will need season ending arthroscopic surgery. This would be a major loss for the Canucks.
Daniel Alfredsson, W, Ottawa SenatorsThursday 3/6, 1:49 PM CT
Daniel Alfredsson, who has been nursing back spasms, is expected to be a game-time decision against the Kings on Thursday, according to The Ottawa Sun. He will be a sizable loss to the team as he notched 79 points in 60 games this season.

Marian Hossa, W, Detroit Red WingsThursday 3/6, 12:32 PM CT
Marian Hossa skated for around 40 minutes prior to practice Wednesday and mentioned that his injured knee felt a little stiff, according to PittsburghLive.com. He also said, "I felt the same as I was expecting - not the best, but not too bad." Hossa had been out of action since February 28 due to his injured right MCL, but hopes to return Sunday against the Capitals.
Dany Heatley, W, Ottawa SenatorsThursday 3/6, 12:13 AM CT
Dany Heatley picked up an assist on Wednesday night to extend his point streak to three games for the Senators. This modest streak comes on the heels of a stretch of three games without a point, and since February 12th points have been hard to come by for Heatley as he has just six points in 12 games, an amazingly low total given the fact that he has 69 points in 57 games on the year.
Jason Spezza, C, Ottawa SenatorsThursday 3/6, 12:10 AM CT

Patrick Marleau scored two goals on Wednesday night including his first game winner of the season for the Sharks. Marleau may have only 13 goals and 35 points on the year, a terribly disappointing season to date, but he has certainly picked up his play of late with three goals and three assists in his last five games for the surging Sharks.
Jonathan Cheechoo, W, San Jose SharksThursday 3/6, 12:05 AM CT
Jonathan Cheechoo scored as goal with less than three minutes left on Wednesday night to send the Sharks game to OT against the Senators before they eventually triumphed 3-2. Unless your name is Alexander Ovechkin, you simply aren't a hotter scorer than Cheechoo who now has 16 goals in his last 23 games.
