The Dallas forward issued a hit to the head of Colorado defenseman Jordan Leopold that resulted in a league imposed suspension. No penalty was assessed on the hit but the suspension came after a review of the play. Ott will miss Thursday's game at Detroit and games against Vancouver and Anaheim before being eligible to return March 22 against Los Angeles. Ott's $12,834 salary will go to the NHL players' emergency assistance fund.
