Dunedin, FL (Sports Network) - Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells will miss the next month with a strained left hamstring.

Wells left the team's spring training facility after the injury on Monday and will undergo an MRI to evaluate the extent of the damage.

"Right now, preliminarily, I'd say he's going to miss four weeks," said Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi.

Wells battled through several injuries last season, including a left hamstring injury, and batted .300 with 20 home runs and 78 RBI in 108 games.

Over his 10 seasons in the majors, all with Toronto, he is a career .283 hitter with 177 home runs and 659 RBI in 1,078 games.
