Viera, FL (Sports Network) - Washington Nationals outfielder Adam Dunn was added to Team USA's World Baseball Classic roster on Sunday.

The news comes hours after Twins closer Joe Nathan pulled out of the competition, citing discomfort in his AC joint.

In 2008, Dunn hit .233 with 32 home runs and 74 runs batted in over 114 games with the Reds, spending nearly all of his time in left field. The left-handed power hitter slugged eight round-trippers and knocked in 26 runs with a .243 average in 44 games after joining the D'Backs, splitting time between left field (nine games), right field (23 games) and first base (19 games).

An All-Star selection in 2002, the 29-year-old has hit 40 or more home runs in each of the past five seasons and has 278 homers with 672 RBI and a .247 average in eight big league seasons.

Team USA is set to begin pool play on March 7 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada, the home of the Blue Jays. In the four-team pool with the United States is Canada, Italy and Venezuela. Japan took home the title in the inaugural WBC in 2006.
