Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Cavaliers officially signed forward Joe Smith on Thursday to a contract.

Smith was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday after appearing in 36 games, averaging 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in just over 19 minutes a game.

He is expected to fill the void left by forward Ben Wallace, who went down with a fractured leg.

Over his 14-year career, Smith has averaged 11.7 points and 6.8 boards in 929 games. He has also played for Golden State, Philadelphia, Minnesota, Detroit, Milwaukee, Denver, Chicago and Cleveland.
