Giants ink S Brown East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - The New York Giants have signed free agent safety C.C. Brown. Terms of the deal for the former Houston Texan were undisclosed, but he becomes the fourth defensive player the Giants have signed through free agency. The team also brought in linebacker Michael Boley and linemen Rocky Bernard and Chris Canty. Brown spent his first four NFL seasons with Houston and last year played in just three games because of a fractured arm. A sixth-round pick in the 2005 draft by the Texans, Brown has amassed 275 tackles with three interceptions and one sack in 50 games, 47 of which have been starts. "C.C. is a young veteran safety," Giants general manager Jerry Reese was quoted as saying on the club's website. "He is a physical player who has played a lot of football in this league in his short career. We expect him to come in and create great competition at this position and strengthen it as well." The Giants also signed tight end Lee Vickers, who sat out the 2008 season after being waived by Baltimore just before the start of the season. He played in eight games, starting two, for the Ravens in 2007. |
