Lions sign CB Buchanon Allen Park, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions continued to bolster their defensive backfield this offseason by signing free agent cornerback Phillip Buchanon to a two-year deal Thursday. Per team policy, financial terms were not disclosed. Buchanon spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and last year recorded 69 tackles, two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, and 11 passes defensed in 16 starts. The 28-year-old Buchanon, who played in 32 games (29 starts) with the Bucs, was selected 17th overall in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. Buchanon also played for Houston. The former Miami-Florida standout will join Anthony Henry and Eric King as recent new members of Detroit's secondary. |
