Eagles fill Dawkins loss with Jones Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Eagles signed free agent safety Sean Jones to a one-year contract on Friday. Jones is being brought in to fill the gaping hole in the Eagles secondary, as 13-year veteran Brian Dawkins flew the coop earlier this offseason for a lucrative contract with the Denver Broncos. Jones, a 2004 second-round pick, has spent his entire career in Cleveland, recording 14 interceptions and 286 tackles. He missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury and was on the shelf for four games in the 2008 campaign, but the former Georgia Bulldog is one of just four NFL players to record at least four interceptions in each of the last three seasons. In 12 games last year, Jones picked off four passes and recorded 56 tackles for Cleveland. |
