Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Capitals star and the NHL's leading goal scorer Alexander Ovechkin sat out the Capitals game against the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday with a heel injury.

Ovechkin left the team's practice on Wednesday with what was, at the time, an undisclosed injury.

With 46 goals, Ovechkin leads the league in that category, and this marks only the fourth game he has missed in his career. He is also second in the league in points, to Penguins star Evgeni Malkin, with 83.
