Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Dan Boyle had successful surgery on his left wrist on Sunday.

The surgery was required after he had three tendons in his wrist completely severed when a skate fell on his wrist in the locker room on Saturday after the team's 2-1 loss to Washington.

The surgery took place at University Community Hospital and was performed by team physician Dr. Ira Guttentag and hand specialist Dr. Richard Gray. Boyle is expected to be out four-to-six weeks.

Last season with Tampa Bay, his fifth with the team and eighth in the league, he appeared in all 82 games and had 20 goals and 43 assists.
